A strategic hub to improve mobility in the supercentre of the city of Bordeaux, the Tourny plaza stands at the crossroad between the belt of the Clémenceau and Verdun rivers and the historical Fondaudège street, which is located at the heart of the heritage city center and designated UNESCO world heritage site.
The landscape architecture agency AJOA has restructured the Tourny plaza in order to clear mutual space for pedestrians, cars and public transportation, but also give the plaza circled with heritage buildings a contemporary signature.
The lighting design of the plaza has been conceived around its very unique circular shape, showing respect to its monumental dimension that makes it such a central plaza within the ring of the rivers of Bordeaux.
Fine touches of golden light highlight the blind arcades of the buildings surrounding the plaza, composing a surprising baroque nocturnal décor and delicately inscribing them in nocturnal views and perspectives.
