Dark Infrastructure and Lighting Plan for Jeishi National Park, 500 ha

The development project of the Changli territory, located all around the Jeishi Mountain, builds upon a tourism promotion policy for natural, agricultural and leisure-centered sites, as well as a will to protect sensitive ecosystems. Jeishi National Park shall become the first Chinese National Park, with a 500 hectares surface area.

We proposed to implement a dark infrastructure in the park, meaning that partial or temporary darkness zones would be demarcated, as well as their links and crossing. This progressive transition from light to darkness, geographical and temporal, will grant the Changli territory all its nocturnal refinement and complexity, echoing the environmental efforts that will be undertaken in the touristic development of the site. Lookouts to observe the darkness will be set up, thus staging the landscape through the organization of darkness zones.
