In the context of the urban planning of downtown public spaces (31,6ha).
This lighting design is part of the urban planning of public spaces in downtown Brionne, and aims to endow the town with a poetic image, building upon what has shaped its landscape: moving waters.
Brionne’s weather is that of Normandy, rain, wind and sun come one after another, the variety of natural light qualities make up its charm. To translate this ever changing nature, at night materiality takes shape under artificial lighting. The project showcases ‘natural’ light phenomena to animate the facade of the church. On clear sky days, caustic reflections move slightly with the wind.
On rainy days, the same system ‘evolves’ thanks to the diffusion effect that raindrops create on projector lenses, colored light then becomes diffuse in a ‘washed out’ fashion, and the runoff of rainwater on the ground takes over and animates it through natural reflections and brilliance.
